In the glass, the wine has a deceptively light clarity which is almost immediately betrayed by a delightful aroma of ripe Asian pear and crisp white peach. The intentional halting of malolactic fermentation allows for more nuanced notes of fresh white pepper and a whisper of dill. The plate is tight and well-rounded, brisk and bright, buoyed by the proximity of the Pacific Ocean vineyards which lends a succulent salinity and crisp acidity. Meyer lemon and fleshy white grapefruit are balanced by a layer of meringue and a twinge of cedar from the oak fermentation. This is a Chardonnay that will appeal to both Old and New World palates alike, with a drinkability that should be celebrated with glass after glass, and bottle after bottle.
